The intention with this website is to locate at least 1,001 benchmark sites, or die in the attempt (no flowers please, house private). Photos of any benchmark sites found will be posted at intervals over the coming days, weeks, months, years, decades, centuries ... Anyone who wishes to contribute can send photos and descriptions of any benchmarks they find and would like to have included here, to mfbourke@gmail.com See post Number 1 for a fuller description.

NUMBER 724

BENCHMARKS continued
Returning through Limerick from a trip to the remote south-west recently, Benchmarker used the short time available for a hunt within the environs of Colbert Station and bagged this one. It's on the base of the railings on Pery Square at the corner with Mallow Street.
For more 'marks from Limerick City, see the website created by historian Sharon Slater here:- http://limerickslife.com/benchmarks-in-limerick/ It's everything a benchmark website should be.

NUMBER 723

BENCHMARKS continued
The Griffith maps contain a veritable treasure trove of 'marks that do not appear on either the 6'' or 25'' maps. Perhaps they could be described as outliers; or maybe as rogues. And it was to Griffith's that M.C. resorted in order to track down any rogues within the metropolitan Dublin area that have not already surrendered to his hawk-eyed insatiability. He bagged this one on Clarke's Bridge over the Royal Canal on Summerhill Parade, Ballybough Road.
