NUMBER 1,025

BENCHMARKS continued

In the early days of this site - June of 2010 to be precise - on a visit to Derry, Benchmarker gathered a rather good crop from the Walls and Gates of that Maiden City. They can be viewed as NUMBERS 36 to 43. Inexplicably this one, on the upper level of Ferryquay Gate, was missed and only discovered a week or so ago. Perhaps it was because on the earlier hunt Benchmarker found a 'mark at that particular Gate at street level and on the opposite side. A relative novice then, Benchmarker just didn't think that two could be so close together. Anyway better late than never, as some old codgers are known to remark.

Below: A 'mark on the upper level of the Wall at Ferryquay Gate in Derry.

Above: On Ferryquay Gate and looking east towards the Foyleside Shopping Centre with the 'mark at bottom right.

Below: A 'mark on Harbour Road in Howth in County Dublin. It's below the metal part of the mile-marker at near right.
