NUMBER 546

BENCHMARKS continued

This one from M.C. is on the perimeter wall of Saint Patrick's Boys' Primary School at the junction of Lombard Street and Bridge Street in Galway City. It appears the wall was built from stones salvaged from a building - Shamble Barracks - which formerly stood on the site of the school. Apparently the benchmark stone that was on that building was placed in the new wall close to its original location.
